Membership

By joining the Hays PTO, you are providing a financial donation to help us meet our school's needs that are outside the scope of their budget.

You are not required to attend meetings, volunteer or contribute in any other way.

We appreciate your partnership!

Volunteering

Get Involved — Volunteer!

When adults volunteer, all students benefit! There are many opportunities for parents and community members to get involved!  Your help is needed!  Complete the Volunteer Interest form and we will be in touch with you.

Interested in becoming a Room Parent? We’d love to have you!
Simply indicate your interest on the Volunteer Interest Form. Our Room Parent Chair will review submissions and may reach out if additional information is needed. Room Parents are selected in coordination with the teacher, and in many cases, two parents are chosen to share the role.

FAQS

IF I JOIN, DO I HAVE TO:

  • Go to meetings?
Nope! Meetings are not required, but it is a great way to help us build new student programs, stay informed, and for your voice to be heard.

  • Volunteer or spend a lot of time at school?
Nope! By joining the PTO, you are simply investing in your school and your student. If you choose to volunteer, we would LOVE the help!

WHAT DO MY DUES PAY FOR:

  • FUN EVENTS that YOUR student LOVES like Field Day, Programs/Assemblies, Fall & Winter Family Nights, Movie Nights, and most importantly, school supplies, equipment and grade-level needs throughout the year.
We use money from the dues to pay for decorations, snacks, activities, and other special items that make these events extra special for our students.

  • SPECIAL TREATS for YOUR Teachers like Staff Surprise Snacks, a few Teacher Lunches, and other goodies that make your Teacher feel loved.
We also help fund items for Teacher Appreciation Week, Appreciation Lunches, and other items that help make our teachers feel valued.  Our teachers are always so thankful for these little tokens of appreciation!

The number one reason to join PTO is to benefit your child, and in doing so, you help your school. But, there are so many other advantages.

  • Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school. By attending our PTO general meetings that are held throughout the school year, you can hear about and sign up for ways to get involved and get the latest scoop on what is happening at the school.
  • Discover Great Resources. The PTO offers a variety of programs designed for parents as well as students.
  • Tap into a Network. Parenting is not easy - it helps to share ideas, concerns, and experiences with other parents and educators in the community. PTO functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, build rapport and discuss issues that are on your mind.
  • Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with your PTO, you gain valuable experiences. It’s an opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to good use for a good cause—your child and all children in the community.
  • Speak Up. Because the PTO is a forum for exchanging ideas, you are encouraged to make suggestions. PTO can be a way for you to suggest change more effectively at your child’s school.
  • Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school, you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTOs play an important role in fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum-based programs, and social events – all vital to a school’s success.
  • Be a Role Model. Set a good example for your kids by being involved yourself. By becoming a PTO member, you’ll demonstrate to your child the importance you place on education.
